Throughout this course, you will work on three projects:
- A hand-forged sterling silver link bracelet
- Pierced-design copper or brass earrings with silver earring wires
- A mixed metal soldered pendant
Design ideas are provided, but you may bring your ideas too!
Through the completion of these projects, you will learn the following foundational techniques:
- Using bench tools including hammers, pliers, jeweller's saw, files, and flex shaft
- Sawing and piercing skills
- Soldering techniques using an oxygen-propane Gentec little torch
- Forming techniques using hammers, pliers, and dapping tools
- Adding texture and dimension to your piece
- Polishing and finishing metal
- Creating findings (clasps, ear wires, jump rings)
This is the perfect course for the beginner silversmith who wants to understand the tools, steps, and techniques to create jewellery and develop the confidence to take on your own projects.
