Want to take your boro glass chains to the next level?
This workshop is designed for the novice or intermediate chain maker with previous experience who wants to improve their skills to create more complex designs.
Over the 2 sessions, we will discuss and practice techniques that can be incorporated into your chain link jewellery, sun-catchers or ornaments. Class will focus on techniques rather than a finished project.
This workshop will cover the following techniques:
- Circles
- Parallel rod technique
- Organic shapes (pushes, twists)
- Various rod widths from micro-chain links (< 3mm) to heavy chain links (>5mm)
- Textures
-
Colours (including adding colour to clear links using frit, swipes, dots)
If time allows more techniques will be presented (focal links, triangles, squares, hearts).
Completion of Introduction to Boro Glass Chains or equivalent experience required.
Students should bring to the first class at least 10 of their leftover, mismatched or misshapen links in any size clear glass - these links will be used for experimentation.
Supplies included, however if you have them, bring along your eye protection, favourite marver, masher, tweezers etc.
Due to the nature of glass, students will have to return to pick up their finished pieces after they have been annealed.
