A Clay + Glass Two Studio Experience

Presented by LoLo Studios, sister studios LOAM Clay Studio & Loretta Glass Studio, both located at 131 Loretta Avenue North, Ottawa, ON.

Inspired by the dramatic summer storms that roll across Ottawa, this collaborative workshop invites you to capture the beauty of heavy skies, falling rain, and shifting light through two extraordinary materials.

Begin your experience at Loretta Glass Studio, where you'll be introduced to torch-working with borosilicate glass. Using flame and gravity, you'll create a collection of luminous glass raindrops in varying shades of blue and clear glass. Each drop is individually formed by hand, creating subtle variations that make every installation one of a kind.

Next, you'll head to LOAM, where you'll sculpt an organic cloud wall hanging from clay. You'll explore texture, movement, and form, shaping a cloud that feels uniquely your own. Surface treatments and expressive mark-making will create depth and atmosphere, transforming a simple form into something full of mood and character.

Once assembled, the glass droplets will hang beneath your ceramic cloud, catching light and casting beautiful shadows that shift throughout the day. The finished piece is equal parts sculpture and installation—a quiet reminder of summer rain, changing skies, and the beauty found in fleeting moments.

Spend the day moving between two studios, learning two distinct artistic processes, and discovering how clay and glass can come together to create something neither material could achieve alone.

All materials, instruction, glass, clay, and firings are included. No previous experience is necessary—just curiosity and a willingness to create.
