A Clay + Glass Experience

Presented by LoLo Studios, sister studios Loretta Glass Studio & LOAM Clay Studio, both located at 131 Loretta Avenue North, Ottawa, ON.

Things are getting a little haunted at LoLo Studios.

In this one-of-a-kind clay + glass collaboration, you’ll spend the day creating your own wonderfully wonky haunted house — complete with tiny handmade glass ghosts to haunt it.

Start the day at Loretta Glass Studio, where you’ll learn the delicate art of torch-working with borosilicate glass to create your own spooky little spirits. Using a flame, gravity and some basic tools, you’ll transform rods of glass into tiny ghosts full of personality — sweet, spooky, surprised or perhaps a little mischievous.

Then, slide on over to LOAM Clay Studio (literally: we’re connected by a sliding barn door!) where you’ll build the haunted house your ghosts will call home.

Using slab-building and sculptural handbuilding techniques, you’ll construct a freestanding ceramic haunted house inspired by crooked rooftops, wonky windows, mysterious doorways, chimneys, steps and all the wonderfully imperfect details of a house that might just be haunted. Design openings, ledges and hiding places for your glass ghosts to peek through windows, lurk around corners or welcome unsuspecting visitors at the front door.

Make it eerie and abandoned, whimsical and wonky, gothic and dramatic, or more cute than creepy. No two haunted houses — or their resident ghosts — will be quite the same.

Your finished ceramic and glass sculpture will be a one-of-a-kind piece made for bringing out every spooky season.

Workshop details: Finished pieces will be ready for pickup 2–4 weeks after the workshop date. Space is limited to 8 participants.

All materials, firings, and instruction included. No prior experience in clay or glass necessary.
