Cost: $480.00 (plus HST)
Instructor: Drew Rankin of Drewski Glass
This 4-week introductory course is for students with little or no boro glass experience.
This course includes a brief introduction to borosilicate glass, its place in the history of lampworking, the fundamentals of heat and rotation and studio safety. Students will receive a guided exploration of boro glass, including colour, some methods of colour application and the specific tools and techniques used to create both blown and sculptural pieces. Students will also benefit from teacher demonstrations of colourful sculptural pieces. During class students will have the chance to make a leaf pendant, a solid marble and coil pot colour onto a hollow tube and blow it into a small vessel form.
Tools and materials are provided for the class.
Due to the nature of glass, students will have to return to pick up their finished pieces after they have been annealed.
