Beginner Borosilicate - 6 week session, 3 hours/week
This is a 6-week introductory course for students with little or no boro glass experience. This course includes a brief introduction to borosilicate glass, its place in the history of lampworking, as well as the basic skills required for boro glass work.
Students will receive a guided exploration of the material itself, including colours, some methods of colour application and the specific tools and techniques used to create both blown and sculptural pieces. Students will also benefit from teacher demonstrations of colourful sculptural pieces.
Tools and materials are provided for the class. Due to the nature of glass, students will have to return to pick up their finished pieces after they have been annealed.
Teacher is Drew Rankin of Drewski Glass
