Glassblowing with Borosilicate - 6 week session, 3 hours/week
In this 6-week course, students will gain knowledge of the tools and techniques used to create blown objects using borosilicate tubing. They will learn how to work with a larger flame on either Bethlehem Bravo or Nortel Midrange Plus torches. The teacher will cover hollow gathers, pulling points, using blow tubes, coil potting, hollow pendants, small dish assembly and other approaches to glassblowing. Some colour application techniques will be discussed. Tools and materials are provided for the class. Beginner Boro or some previous hot glass experience required. Due to the nature of glass, students will have to return to pick up their finished pieces after they have been annealed.
